Just Wondering…Am I the only one who thinks that there is just too much time devoted to the NHRA race broadcasts? I feel like I’m just seeing the same cars and people over and over again and I just start to lose interest. Tighten it up and keep it moving. In this case I think less would be more.
Just Wondering…Has the SS/AH class at the U.S. Nationals just morphed into a 1967 version of Barracuda Pro Stock? Judging from the costs and what those racers say they spend that’s what it looks like to me.
Just Wondering…Why is it that if a professional class racer wins $100,000 at a race it’s big news but when a bracket racer does we don’t even get his name in a press release?
Just Wondering… Would venues outside the outlaw doorslammer-friendly Southeastern U.S. such as Union Grove, Wisconsin, or Epping, New Hampshire, draw the same kind of crowd that attended ADRL’s Dragstock III in Rockingham, NC?
Just Wondering…Since the NHRA decided that NASCAR’s “playoff” points system was good for business, I wonder if they will figure out that many of their Pro Stock class fans drive something other than a GM, Ford or Chrysler sedan and open the class up to all (read “foreign”) manufacturers and makes? A Honda vs. Pontiac Pro Stock final round would generate a lot more interest than the GM vs. Mopar that we see at nearly every race now, wouldn’t it?
Just Wondering…A second serious Top Fuel crash at a national event and still no movement on a mandatory Head and Neck restraint device from either NHRA or IHRA! What has to happen before they adopt the SFI 38-1 spec for pro class cars?
Just Wondering…How much is the suite rental at National Trail Raceway in Columbus since the NHRA moved the race to Norwalk, Ohio?
Just Wondering…Will the nostalgia nitro burning Top Fuel and Funny Car movement ever really thrive outside of SoCal? I mean will they have enough teams and cars to regularly fill an eight or sixteen car field?
Just Wondering…Is Famoso (Bakersfield, CA) the only track that can hold two successful major nostalgia meets in the same year?
Just Wondering…Why doesn’t the NHRA or the IHRA have $50,000- or $100,000-to-win bracket races at a couple of their national events each year instead of their regular sportsman classes? They could charge just about whatever they wanted for an entry fee and they would probably have to limit the entries to 500 cars. I’m betting the manufacturers and sponsors, say like Lucas Oil or Torco, would support something like that for their bracket racing customers.
Just Wondering…What genius at the major sanctioning body came to the conclusion that when the number of people attending a national event keeps dropping and they generate less money the solution is to raise ticket prices? This is actually being proposed for some national events where attendance is an issue. What in the name of capitalism are they thinking? Don’t they realize that raising ticket and food prices just drives more of their customers away, especially when those customers can watch four and half hours of the race on cable TV for FREE!
Just Wondering…When is someone going to get smart and build luxury boxes with a view of the finish line at a major venue? I still contend that a suite at the finish line with a big screen TV to take the ESPN2 live feed of the starting line would be the ultimate luxury boxes.
Just Wondering… When will we see the first five-second Competition Eliminator pass?
Just Wondering…Why is it that some racetracks that lack the restroom and concession facilities necessary to properly serve the majority of the ticket-buying audience which often results in dissatisfied customers, spend money building luxury boxes to serve the elite few instead of trying to take care of the people that buy the majority of the tickets? Yeah, yeah, I know they’re for the sponsors…lame reasoning in my opinion.
Just Wondering…Will the IHRA series ever be able to put together a program for nitro Funny Cars and dragsters that will attract enough new IHRA-only teams to ensure full and quality fields at all of their national events?
Just Wondering…Can’t anyone read anymore? We recently ran a 1320 note and called it a rumor and spelled the word RUMOR in all caps. Yet a bunch of people responded to the rumor as if it were fact and it even became a news story of sorts. We make no claim for anything we call a RUMOR to be fact. We sometimes pass along rumors to show the silly side of the sport and provide some entertainment.
Just Wondering…Am I the only one who finds it a little strange that some single-car, under-funded nitro teams will go to an NHRA national event they know in their hearts they have no chance to qualify for much less win, blow up or wear out all of their parts and then not be able to attend an IHRA event where they could easily qualify and probably make money? Then they will complain about not being able to race. I just don’t get it, I guess.

Just Wondering…Now that Jim Tice Jr. seems to be firmly in control of the now one-race (Spokane) AHRA sanctioning body, is there a chance they may sanction more races?
Just Wondering…Whatever happened to Troy Coughlin’s turbocharged Pro Mod? I hear the engine is done and we know the car is complete and ready.
