MARTIN

time last night. You know
anything about this?

DARR
You’re kidding. No. No way.

MARTIN

DARR

Cut to: Burk walking up to Utterback

BURK
I’m Chief Burk. Can I talk
with you for a minute?

UTTERBACK
Sure.

BURK
I heard you lost your ride
for the race at Pomona.

UTTERBACK
Yeah. But that’s ok.

BURK
You wouldn’t have anything
against Capps because he’s
taking your place now, would you?

UTTERBACK
No. Not at all. Why do you ask?

Burk’s cell phone rings. He looks at the number.

BURK
Will you excuse me for a moment.

Burk picks up the call and walks toward Martin.

BURK
(into phone)
Yeah. Uh-huh. Oh really?

BURK
(to Martin)
There’s been a break in the case.
We’re going to have to call in
the whole Gaynor team for questioning.
