TIME FOR A CHANGE

One of the most satisfying jobs in maintaining your Corvette is changing the oil. Now, there are those folks who will tell you that changing spark plugs is more satisfying than changing oil, but for our money we'll take changing oil over changing spark plugs every time.

There's little to compare with the satisfaction of seeing the old, worn out, black dirty oil gush out of your oil pan when the drain plug comes out. Most people don't realize the skill involved in maneuvering the drain plug down to its very last thread and then deftly whipping it out of the pan before the scalding hot oil pours down your sleeve. Believe me, it's quite a feat. I've been there.

Another satisfying thing is changing your oil filter. Now, some people believe that it's not necessary to change the oil filter every time you change your oil. My answer to this is: you wouldn't change your socks without changing your shoes, would you? Of course not! So the moral is: don't change your oil filter without changing your oil, and change your underwear at least every other Thursday.

And don't forget the great satisfaction that comes from pouring the fresh oil into your engine--right from the container! There's not much that can match the good feeling

you get from knowing that you're doing the right thing by your Chevrolet Corvette engine--even a matching numbers one. Then, when all is said and done, all that's left to do is clean up the couple of quarts of oil that somehow always seem to spill on your driveway, or your face. Yessir, for our money, we'll take changing the oil—every time!
