How about these ideas:
1. If they are willing to drop Pro Stock Truck why not add Top Fuel
Harleys or Top Fuel Import scooters?
2. If they think alcohol funny cars and dragsters will be more entertaining
by paying them more money...why not add more Pro Mods to the race
instead. At least each car looks different.
3. Why do they allow 1,000 sportsman racers to attend one event and
then try to get rid of them two days before the "real racing" begins?
Why not just invite the Top 16 from each category in divisional points
from the division where the national event is being held and "seed"
in the past champions on a provisional basis. That means the event
can be done in two days. That way you don't have to be rich, a "professional"
sportsman or someone with four weeks vacation to run a National event
in your home division.
4. Why keep Pro Stock Bike when they are all identical? (Although
they do have some of the best driver interviews and personalities.)
Just stick Angelle and some of the boys in a Pro Mod.
5. From what I could see, the stands at Indy weren't full and that
is a shame. The problem, in my opinion, is the cost involved. To see
it all you can spend $700 to take a family to the races and that is
if you have a camper! Instead, why not do it in two days, charge $100
for a two-day ticket and build some more grandstands? It works for
NASCAR.
AND NOW ABOUT MY CAR...
I have to take a minute or two and tell you a little about my experiences
in S/Pro and 8.90 heads up racing this summer. It has been the most
fun I have had in years and I have done LESS winning than I had hoped.
I think the S/Pro racing is the closest racing in the world. I have
had twelve losses this year by less than .009 of a second. Three of
those were less than .001 of a second.
Was it bad luck? I don't think so. I do think the other racer was
"luckier" than I was, but the racing was so close only the computer
could tell. I can't feel too bad when they are that close but man...could
I use a little MORE LUCK this fall.
To the many sponsors who have helped keep "Project 4-Link" on the
track this summer, THANK YOU. We didn't exactly replenish the old
checkbook with our winnings but I felt we got a lot closer to a very
good combination for the Dragstar 4-Link rear engine dragster. The
Indy Cylinder Head 540" BracketMaster engine has been absolutely perfect
and the looser converter we just put in from Mike's Transmission really
gave us more consistent 60-ft times and eigth-mile and quarter-mile
ETs.
Stay tuned for the latest "Project 4-Link" article coming in a couple
weeks. It is my experiences in dealing with torque converters and
getting the "right one." I am not sure if it is "Voo-Doo" or science.
Read it yourself and see what you think.
