THE GREAT CROSS-COUNTRY CAMARO TOUR

DAY 5
Our morning pretty much revolved around corn and concrete
as we traveled through Mitchell, S.D. Maybe we should say corny concrete.
The lure of the famous Corn Palace got us off I-80 (a veritable coup,
considering we could have been persuaded to witness the world's largest
bull head at a roadside sculpture park).
We saw workers changing and crafting the western-motif
murals at the minaret-accented Palace -- murals that are made strictly
from corn and other agricultural products.
(Guys were stapling ears of corn to the façade.) It's
a sort of South Dakota natural extravaganza, a plains-states "ear-chitecture"
version of Pasadena's Tournament of Roses Parade.
