Drag Racing Online: The Magazine

Volume VIII, Issue 7, Page

Okay, so any of the racing Coughlin brothers can build just about anything that money can buy -- and, yes, some of us are jealous -- but that doesn’t mean that Jeg, Jr. isn’t a serious racer. Besides at the level of bracket racing at which he competes most of his competitors are racing their wallets too. That’s just the facts of life these days.

But, what money can’t buy you is vision, determination and skill, all traits that Jeg Coughlin, Jr. showed he has when he built the ’67 Chevy Nova wagon we are featuring as this month’s DRO Car of the Month.

Now lest you think this
was a deal where
Jeg just called
down to the shop
and said something
like, “I think I want
a Nova wagon
drag car so just
make me one,”
you couldn’t
be more wrong.

Jeg wheels the primered Nova wagon on another 6.50 lap. According to Jeg and Kenny, a combination of a 4:56 gear, big 17-33X16 Goodyears on the back  and a soft-hitting converter help the wagon leave very smoothly on every lap with no tire spin. Jeg says he has no plans to paint the car but will leave it in primer.
