This is the motor that drove Rick's old 'Vette to a best lap of 8.93/150. It was built in the Jack Roush shops and uses Chevy splayed valve heads and an SB-2 intake manifold. Class restrictions limit the engines to a single four-barrel carb and production heads and block. The rules do allow aluminum blocks and heads, so next season look for an aluminum bullet in this car. It will be smaller (361cubic inch) than the current engine and will feature cylinder heads from Dick Maskin. This combination should allow the 'Vette to shed about a hundred pounds of weight and still meet the 8.3-lbs per cubic inch requirements for the class.

NMCA rules for the Hot Street class allow the racer to "back-halve" the chassis. Rick and the Moroso crew basically cut the stock rear suspension out of the C-5 and installed a complete Competition Engineering four link style rear suspension. The center section for the rear end is a Strange unit and the axles are from Mark Williams. One of the unique aspects of the four-link is that Rick and the crew have fabricated two sets of four-link adjusters. One set has a completely different set of hole locations than the other so that the four link is infinitely adjustable . Because the flanges bolt to the body instead of being welded, they can be changed at the track.
