The Houston Motorsports Park eighth-mile facility is the perfect setting for the American Drag Racing League. The track, built right in the middle of a Houston suburb, only runs heads-up classes because that is what their racers and fans demand.

They got a large dose of what they wanted when nearly 50 ADRL Outlaw Pro Mods rolled into the track for the second stop of the seven-race ADRL 2006 tour. During the Friday test session, the Houston fans and the ADRL racers got acquainted with each other and saw a teaser of what they would see on the following day when no fewer than six Pro Outlaw cars dipped into the six-second zone while getting used to the Houston track’s relatively short shutdown area.

By the time eliminations began on Saturday the ADRL pros had the track figured out and the capacity crowd was treated to an outstanding heads-up Outlaw doorslammer race that featured a pair of first-time winners: Joey Martin in Pro Extreme and Mike Castellana in Pro Nitrous.
