16° MERLIN-X BIG BLOCK CHEVY HEADS

The engineering team at World Products has created a new cylinder head for big block Chevy applications that combines the port designs and flow characteristics of splayed valve-type Pro Stock heads with the ability to utilize all existing Chevrolet Mark IV valve train components.

The Merlin-X heads employ a “rolled” design with a 16° valve angle and created an 80cc combustion chamber for. With “out of the box” flow numbers in excess of 400 cfm, the Merlin-X heads will support in excess of 1,000 horsepower.

Merlin-X 16° aluminum heads are available completely assembled, with stainless steel valves, screw-in studs, pushrod guide plates, and a variety of valve spring/retainer packages. They are also available in bare casting form. For more information, visit www.worldcastings.com.

K&N RACING SCOOP FILTERS

K&N adds two new styles of air filters for snorkel-type air scoops for drag racing to their line. These new filters complement the cone filters K&N already offers in several sizes for Formula Atlantic and Super Vee-style racers. The drag race filters have been designed to fit specific scoops. A K&N oval filter fits the Harwood 3153 scoop. It has a dual-element design for maximum airflow and protection from dirt and debris. This filter mounts just inside the front lip of the scoop and is held in place by Dzus fasteners. The second drag race model fits the QuarterMax RJF1 round-style air inlets and features a dual-element design.

K&N’s racing cone filters for Formula cars are designed and sized to fit specific racecars, including Lola, Vestal, Tiga, Ralt and Swift. They fit inside the scoop and have a small hole that allows debris to exit through the back end of the scoop. For more information, visit www.knfilters.com.
