In
the semi’s Brown gave the North’s
Gentile all he could handle, just losing
with a slower 4.43 to Gentile’s
4.41. In the most anticipated match of
the weekend it was a rematch of last year's
final as Tutterow was set to face off
against Dantoni. Team North was throwing
everything at the car as Musi was loading
a program into the EFI system appropriately
named “737_BigDog_Tutterow”
custom-made just for this match.
In the
minutes before the finals, Bob “Big
Daddy” Harris interviewed Pat
Musi on the starting line and said
“Win, lose or draw, y’all
have been gentlemen and we’ve
had fun.” Musi replied, “I’ll
tell you anyone that says street car
racing is dead needs to be here tonight”
to the cheers of the capacity crowd.

As team North was
servicing Dantoni's '69 Camaro they found
a nitrous problem that had been plaguing
them all weekend. Since there was so little
time to change anything else, they fixed
it and went with what they had. The race
was anti-climatic as Dantoni’s car
with all the power now on tap shook the
tires hard and watched Tutterow drive
away with yet another bracket-like 4.19.
The crowd burst
into a huge cheer as it now looked like
the South was solidly in a position to
reclaim their lost Big Dog title. Tutterow
said “I owed him from last year”
as he was busy preparing for the final
round
In the finals, despite
Gentile's much quicker .025 to .114 light,
Tutterow ran off yet another bracket-like
4.19 to take the win over Gentile's 4.46.
The crowd went absolutely crazy as their
man had now brought back the respect lost
in last year's race. The “Big Dog”
was now safely home.
When Harris told
Tutterow “You’re the man,”
Tutterow replied “in the south that’s
what we call Getter Done” (and the
crowd went crazy). Harris then said he’d
never pulled for a Ford in his life but
tonight he pulled harder then ever before.
Tutterow then asked him, “So do
you like Todd Tutterow now?” Harris’s
reply: “I love Todd Tutterow”
and he kissed him too!
With the score tied
1 to 1, and the Big Dog resting back home
south of the Mason-Dixon line, it’s
going to be interesting to see who will
win round three of this incredible race!
