AHRA
(that’s right AHRA) Pro Stock
alum Delon
Joseph had his new nitrous oxide injected, Jerry Bickle
built, 2005 Cavalier out for the last two CMTS events.
He ran a 4.338 at this race.
Aaron
Hodges and his NOS equipped ’63 ‘Vette
cut an unbelievable .000 light against Bryan Allison
in the second round only to get into tire shake,
step off the throttle and lose with a 8.789 to
Allison’s 4.314. |
By the time the track made the call for the second round,
the sun had gone down and, as it does in late September,
the track surface was getting cold and the dew started
coming up. Mr. Five Speed came out of his bag with a
stout 4.276 to beat Saitz, who had a major problem about
550-600 feet out when the engine let go but still turned
a 4.343 in a losing cause.
Little then continued his drive to the Championship with
a 4.222 to 4.347, drubbing the man who had built his Camaro,
chassis builder Terry Murphy. Another long wait preceded
the semi-final action. If Little could get one more round
win then it made no difference what Hall did. Little could
clinch with a win over Columbia, MO racer Bryan Allison.
Little was ready and left on Allison's mountain-motored
IHRA Pro Stock Cavalier and ran 4.242 to Allison's game
4.342.

Although the Championship race was done, Hall didn't
know it. He only knew he had to beat David Schorr's EFI-equipped,
800-inch Kaase motored Ford Escort. Hall ran a 4.281
to put Schorr in the transporter when he could only manage
a 4.336. That win over Schorr did, however, guarantee
Hall the runner-up position in the Championship.
Despite the fact that the Championship had been decided,
the two nitrous warriors stuck it out to determine who
would be the race winner. In a very, very late (1:30 a.m.)
final round on a dew laden track with all spectators long
departed, Donnie Little put an emphatic ending to a stellar
season with a mind blowing 4.188 pass at just 175.16 mph
while in the other lane Hall recorded his quickest lap
of the event with a 4.233/171.69 effort.
The men then stuck around a little longer for the winner's
circle photographs and that signaled the end of the first
County Motors Trailer Sales Pro Mod series.
