"It's ridiculous to think we could run 23 races and Gary (Scelzi) and I would be tied in points. So I guess it's only fitting that we'd end four qualifying runs here exactly tied in terms of e.t. I mean, that's just almost too impossible, and if you wrote that up as a script everyone would laugh at you. On top of that, they've been the better speed team all year, but we've found some speed lately and that 329 got us the spot. All that work for one little point, so now the real work begins. All this drama means nothing if we can't go as many rounds as Gary tomorrow. If we go the same amount of rounds, we'll nip him by a point. We're on opposite sides of the ladder, so we can't meet until the final. If that were to happen, I'm not sure our guys would be able to breathe." -- Worsham, who was fighting Scelzi for second overall, after they both went 4.728 secs in qualifying (a career best for Worsham), but Worsham’s faster 329.67 mph garnered him the third-place spot and the extra point that goes with it

“I tell you, I was fighting it. We were lined up on the left-hand side of the groove and the thing was chasing me over there. I kept trying to herd it back in there. I hit the 'whoa' button, 'Whoa, over here, baby, that's not where I want you to go.'" -- Scelzi describing his 4.72 in the final qualifying round

"I told the crew Saturday night that the bleeding is over and nobody died.” -- Jerry Toliver on his disappointing season after not qualifying at Pomona

“The car left great and then it made a move to the right. I could see Tony (Pedregon) outside my window and the car was spinning the tires so I just shut off. We had a little fire, but it was just oil burning.” -- Capps on his first-round loss and what may have been his last ride in the Don Prudhomme-owned flopper

“We had a clutch that wouldn’t neutralize and it held a tremendous amount of heat, which is the enemy in that area. I can’t remember that last time we went out and smoked the tires off the line like that. These things happen and we know why it happened, which means we’ll be able to address the problem the next time we go out. It won’t happen again.” -- C. Pedregon explaining what happened in his first-round match against Burkart

"It just wasn't meant to be." -- Johnny Gray after losing traction in the first round against Worsham

"We got beat because we smoked the tires at the hit in the right lane. It was a one-lane race track today, so if you didn't have lane choice you were going to be out of luck. When we look at why did we get beat, why did we lose, we have to go back to qualifying and look at why we qualified 10th instead of the top half. It boiled down to lane choice today." -- Whit Bazemore after losing to Johnson Jr. in round one

"It was our choice, Del never would have asked us to do that. The stakes for him were a million times larger than they were for us. He was going for second place, we were going for ninth or tenth. It was a unanimous vote in our trailer. It was a team call, because we're all one team here. It was our call, and we're glad we did it." -- Burkart, Worsham’s teammate, on the decision to give up lane choice for their second-round meeting

"After the problem we had in qualifying (an engine explosion and spectacular fire), I think for us to come back and run as well as we did in eliminations shows the character of this team." -- Eric Medlen after losing to teammate and team owner Force in round two

“Lane choice really played a big role. I really thought the car had made it. It normally doesn’t spin the tires that late in the run.” -- Johnson Jr. after losing traction against Gary Densham in round two

"I tell you what, Del and I fought a battle. I hope the fans enjoyed it because I've got to go throw up." -- Scelzi after losing to Force, and losing second place to Worsham, in the semis

“The car just got out of the groove and it was over." -- Gary Densham on his semi-final loss to Worsham and his final pass as a driver for John Force Racing

"You know, the build-up and the hype for the second place thing was just crazy. We were trying not to think about it, but it was all anyone would talk about. It was nuts, to be honest. When we clinched it, we all started breathing again. Then, to take Densham out in the semi-final, from what was supposed to be the bad lane, was just great. It was way better to celebrate a win after clinching, than to head back as losers who finished second.” -- Worsham after beating Densham to earn a spot in the final against Force
