Steve Kirk set low E.T. of the meet with a 6.961-second qualifying
pass, but Chip Havemann, Joel Greathouse, and Lynch all posted
higher top-end speeds in their turbocharged Mustangs.

Wade Hopkins, from Tupelo, MS, qualified his ’89 Mustang
third in Drag Radial, then drove to the win in his first appearance
at Orlando.

Despite losing with a redlight start in the Drag Radial final,
Smooky Hall was pleased with his performance, especially after
running the first seven-second pass in a nitrous-equipped
radial tire car at Orlando.
