SHOOTING GALLERY

Miami’s Rome Berry was solidly in the Outlaw 10.5 field with a 4.718-second pass, but during the burnout for his final qualifying attempt the transmission and driveshaft in his ’69 Camaro let go, prematurely ending his weekend.

In just his fourth Outlaw 10.5 event, Thomas Huddleston (right) ran a career-best 4.618 in beating 2004 ORSCA champ Jack Barfield (left) in the first round and called it “probably the biggest victory” he’s ever had. Huddleston ran up against Lynch in round two, however, and said, “I had a great view of his car there; it was really haulin’!”

Darrell Morgan experienced a brief fire during his final qualifying attempt in EZ Street. He wound up eighth, but fell in the opening round to Bob LeBrecque.

I never did find this team’s pit, but a very cool blown Altered was making hot laps on Saturday night at Atlanta Dragway.
