"It's amazing where this track has evolved from five or six years ago. Back then, cars weren't able to run any where near what they could run on the super tracks like Pomona, Dallas, or Gainesville. Now, with the preparation and what they did a few years ago to improve the concrete, it's really become a track that's as fast as any of them." -- Tony Pedregon after securing the number-one position with a track record E.T. of 4.703 seconds at 325.06 mph

"I kind of like to build up our momentum all weekend, and I was a bit disappointed today that we weren't able to keep it going. But, on the flip side, when you run as well as we did on Friday you approach Saturday a little differently. This is a better problem to have than stinking up the joint on Friday and sweating it out just to get in today. We've been there, done that, so I'm not that upset that our best runs came early.” -- Del Worsham on qualifying third despite going up in smoke and losing the blower belt in his last two qualifying attempts

"She's one of the experienced people on this team and it was a bad deal knowing she got hurt and had to leave. We missed her and I was trying real hard to get that clutch pack together. I hadn't done a clutch in 10 years, but we managed to make it work." -- Gary Densham on qualifying 16th after clutch specialist Mellisa Downing had to leave the track early Friday afternoon to go to the hospital because of a broken finger

"We're confused what to do with the poor old car. It's still not cooperating. It's not doing what we want it to do. It doesn't have the same power curve that the other one did. The parts aren't acting like we thought they'd act. So, I'll take my laptop back to the hotel tonight and do some studying. And I'll probably be tuning in my sleep all night." -- Tim Wilkerson after qualifying 12th

“The car started drifting out of the groove a little bit and I was turning the wheel but it just wouldn't come back. I tried to save it but obviously it didn't quite work. We're going to change the steering back in the car to like it was in the CMKXtreme Corvette last year. The steering is a lot slower in this car, which means it doesn't steer as fast as the Corvette did, which I'm used to, so we're going to speed it back up.” -- Jeff Arend on his final qualifying attempt and after failing to qualify at Firebird

"I had him covered at the start but it got a little loose at about mid track, I had to pedal it and drive back into the groove. When I got back on it, the chutes came out and that was all she wrote as it allowed Medlen to drive around me.” -- Bob Gilbertson on his first-round loss to Eric Medlen

"I'm still not convinced if anything is right or wrong with this thing. I can make it go .85, but that's not what we need to do. We need to change the whole way we run the thing to make it run .75. Unfortunately, we don't know how to do that. I'd like to have stayed here and tested but we didn't get it worked out in time. Most of the guys have flights to catch and jobs to get back to. This set-back blower is just driving me crazy. It's so jumpy. When you step on the gas pedal, it's so weird acting that I'm having a hard time dealing with it. I feel like I've wasted two races and 16 runs. I can make this thing work, I think, but it's just not the way I like it. It makes me think that I should go back to the regular deal. I know how to make that work. I'm not sure what I'm up to yet, but I have some time to decide." -- Wilkerson after going up in smoke against Gary Scelzi in round one

“As soon as it's over, you think of a thousand things you would do differently, but there aren't any do-overs in drag racing. You have to do it in real time, the first time." -- Worsham after losing to Whit Bazemore by 13-thousandths in round one

“Not too many cars can sit as number-one qualifier for two races in a row. The potential is there for us, so we just need to execute." -- T. Pedregon looking for the bright spot after losing to Densham in the first round

"We blew up about of third of our entire inventory of parts." -- Densham on his fiery win over Pedregon after his engine exploded about the 1,000-foot mark

“The fact people from other teams care enough to come over and help you out when you need it is just awesome. I can't thank those guys enough. I hope we can repay the debt some day." -- Densham again, after several members of Scott Palmer's Top Fuel team and Frank Pedregon’s and Jack Wyatt's Funny Car teams pitched in to repair his car in time for a second-round date with Medlen

"The groove here is real narrow and the car went to the left and when I tried to get it back in the groove, the tires came loose." -- Tommy Johnson Jr. on his round-one loss to Ron Capps

“The guy in the other lane had a great reaction time and we got beat at both ends. It hurts for a little bit, but when you’ve been doing this for as long as I have, you have to look at what we did right and know that we have one of the top-flight cars out here.” -- Cruz Pedregon after being ousted by Burkart in round one
