The back-halved, no-wheelie-bars, small-tire Limited Street show was the sole property of

David Reese's Procharger-equipped '68 Camaro. The South Carolina veteran, who swore no more than 471 cubic inches in the stock-appearing beast, reset both ends of the ORSCA L/S Records with a 4.86/151 with only two other qualifiers in the four-second zone. A 5.03/148 on the hottest surface of the day opened eliminations, but Reese dropped back into the fours for the remainder of eliminations, culminating in a 4.96/148 over Georgian David Waits' big block nitrous '68 Nova.

EZ STREET

The ORSCA Drag Radial contingent again found themselves listed behind the white Mustang of Mississippian Dennis Bailey, whose 5.34/148 led the 32-car field by only nine thousandths of a second over fellow Ford pilot Trey Hewlett. While both ran in the 5.30s in round one, Hewlett stole Low ET of the Meet in the second stanza with a 5.31/145 over Jason Glueck's Missouri Monte Carlo.

In the semis, Bailey stopped Memphis legend Donn Gingrich with a 5.37 and a 0.001 RT (!), but Hewlett's 5.47/144 effort actually lost to Mississippi Mustang pilot John Kolivas' 5.70/136 courtesy of a quarter-second holeshot (photo abvoe)! With Kolivas having run no quicker than 5.57, the two Magnolia State Mustangs staged for the final with Bailey the definite favorite. When both drivers found themselves socked in with tire smoke, however, it was Kolivas who pedaled his way to the stripe first by a 6.04/134 to 6.10/130 margin.
