Barklage reached the Bristol final from the No. 13 spot,
knocking off No. 1 qualifier Ed Hoover (Trussell Motorsports
’63 Corvette) with a 6.30 in the semis to reach his
first Pro Mod Challenge final since last season’s
Houston event. He took home enough points to jump from 14th
to eighth in the Cup points standings.
The Thunder Valley Nationals ended a string of four events
in four weeks for the AMS/TLR tour. The next stop for the
series is the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in Chicago,
June 10-12, the sixth of 14 events on the 2005 calendar.
