"We came off the trailer running strong, but we burned
up the clutch Friday night and had to put in a new clutch
pack Saturday and adapt it to the conditions." --
Jim Yates on the effort it took to place 14th with his final
qualifying attempt
"I'm not going to sit here and say it's not frustrating
because it is." -- Erica Enders
on her sixth consecutive DNQ after finishing 21st of 33
entrants
"If I'd had a better reaction time,
I think I could've beaten him.” --
Kenny Koretsky on finishing just a little behind Ron Krisher
in round one
"We were down on power today because we hurt our motor
Saturday in the King Demon. We put in another Jenkins Competition
motor in for eliminations and it made a nice run in the
first round. But when you face Jason and Greg (Anderson,
Line's teammate), you can't afford to give up anything.
He stepped up and got the job done." --
Connolly on his second-round loss to Line
"I'd say it was a pretty good weekend." --
Anderson on taking over the points lead with a semi-final
appearance at Route 66 and seeing teammate Line take the
event win
"I just thought it was our day. Everything was kind
of falling the right way and working in our favor, but we
came up a little short." --
Richie Stevens on losing to Line in the semis
"It's good to beat Jeg, especially since this is my
first race with the new sponsor." --
Line on carrying the Summit Racing colors to victory
PRO MOD
“This car is incredible and I have to say that Tommy
Mauney builds a helluva car. This thing nearly drives itself.
I'm just along for the ride.” --
Mike Ashley after winning an unprecedented fourth-straight
event by defeating first-time finalist Joey Martin
"I just let the clutch fly and knew that we were working
with to much power at that moment so instead of beating
up the equipment it decide to shove the clutch in and carry
on later in the day." -- Troy
Critchley on his aborted first qualifying attempt
“This leaves us with a good feeling to sleep on tonight.”
-- Ashley on defeating Mike Bell
in the opening round of eliminations held on Saturday afternoon
"That was going to be a real good run until we had
a shifter malfunction and both second and third gear were
applied at the same time. It really killed the run. Troy
did a great job to hang with it and get us the win.”
-- Darren Mayer, crew chief for
Troy Critchley, on their first-round win over Scott Ray
"I feel like I was kicked in the gut." --
Joshua Hernandez on beating Ron Muenks in round one, but
being disqualified after the post-run tech inspection identified
a foreign substance in his car's fuel
"I talked at length with Jim Collins of the NHRA Technical
Department, and he said that Josh's fuel was 'dead fuel.'
He told me that the fuel actually would have made the car
slow down -- not add any speed or horsepower at all. Something
must have contaminated their fuel, like brake cleaner, or
gasoline or something. It definitely was one of those freak
things, and extremely disappointing for all of the guys."
-- Kenny Nowling, TLR/AMS Pro Mod series director, explaining
Hernandez’s disqualification
“I thought I was on my way, but as the car drifted
right, the track could not handle the gear change and put
me sideways and the wheelie bar tapped the cone and we were
sent packing.” -- Critchley
on being disqualified for crossing the centerline against
Frankie Taylor in the second round
