Jim Halsey's Camaro (near lane) clocked
history's second-quickest nitrous-aided run again Josh Hernandez,
but a 6.151/228.19 stood no chance against the "Dr.
Moon's Rage" Bel-Air's .036 reaction time and 6.10/230.29.

Possibly more impressive than his 6.03/23.92,
Billes shook hard in his first-round battle with Kirk Kuhns'
California Stringray, and pedaled his way to a 6.081/236.63
to 6.20/227 win. Even though completely off the throttle
at least once, the "oh-eight" pass backed up both
the ET and MPH records. (Bret Kepner photo)
Texan Brandon Pesz never came to
terms with the E-Town surface, but the Mikel family's "Blown
Pressure" '53 Corvette was a crowd favorite. (Bret
