Whilst the FIA/UEM teams started heading towards
Northern Europe for the midsummer Scandinavian
Swing, sportsman brackets become the focus at
Santa Pod with the Summernationals, now in its
fourth year of operation by the Santa Pod Racers
Club. The race entry was an eclectic mix, with
everything from road going VW Beetles through
to Top Fuel Motorcycles and seemingly everything
in between.
Dave Grabham debuted his
blown small block Topo altered at the meeting,
and, after a couple of shakedown passes, placed
the pedal to the metal and caught a big dose of
sky. The subsequent landing wasn't so pretty and
severely bent the front of the chassis sidelining
the team for the rest of the season. (if you can't

Chris Isaacs' immaculate (and rare as hen's
teeth) Standard Vanguard wagon equipped with
a big block and a squirt of nitrous was runner-up
in Super Comp after heading the qualifying sheets
with an 8.905.
Pro ET Stalwarts, Rick and Carla
McCann share
the driving duties in the Heaven&Hell Camaro,
the reigning class champions notched up another
stack of points with the event win with Rick
behind the wheel.
