The final round pitted the Doty & Pettit Mustang against the Lil Nate Monza as the two floppers left together but Pettit powered away down the track for another solid run of 6.239 at 231.66 for the win. Both Bugg and Pettit shared a toast on the top end following their race.
Capps said of his nostalgia flopper experience, “I can’t wait to do this again, I hope we can put some match races together with other NHRA drivers.”
 Top Fuel vet Howard Haight caught every break he could during finaleliminations to take Top Fuel Eliminator.
Haight defeated Lee Jennings in the final round running a 6.242 at 239.10 to the loser’s tire smoking 6.495 at 229.06. For the second time in 2005 Haight won a Goodguys top fuel crown, having won the season-opening 46th March Meet at Famoso Raceway.
The Goodguys VRA series moves onto Seattle, WA for the 1st Northwest Nostalgia Drags on September 2-4, 2005.
