SCOTT
KALITTA'S
FUNNY CAR HISTORY

Scott Kalitta is back on the Funny Car scene, after a 16-year hiatus.  He last appeared at the Fall Dallas race in 1990, losing to a quicker Chuck Etchells in the first round.

In the four years of stats 1987-1990 I have on Scott, he faced 30 different drivers. Against John Force Scott is 0-7 and against Dale Pulde  he is 1-1, those two being the only still-active drivers he raced during that time period. Scott compiled a 24-54 record.  Scott has raced drivers from Darrell Amberson to Jim White, with Ed the Ace, Mark Oswald, Kenny Bernstein, the Snake, and Brad Tuttle in between.

Scott won one race during that time, the Spring Houston race in 1989.  His only No. 1 qualifying pole came at the 1988 Cajun nationals, where only 13 cars qualified.  (Remember those days...they were not good...13 cars qualifying I mean.)  He had a No. 1 ranking in reaction time in 1987 (.509) and a four-year overall average qualifying position of 10.1.
