DRO editor Jeff Burk made one of his infrequent visits to an NHRA National Event at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix, AZ. He was rewarded with a great Friday Night Pro qualifying session that delivered a track record ET from the U.S. Army Top Fuel team and some great fireworks delivered by both burning nitro and gunpowder. Nitro under the lights is still the essence of the sport of drag racing, but a dose of fireworks at the end of the night is kind of like the dessert after a great meal. Light and refreshing.
