Massachusetts Nitro Coupe competitor John Russo (above) has "Draggin' Slayer" on the front spoiler of his '68 Camaro SS, and he did just that at the Super Chevy Show's Epping, New Hampshire event. Russo took both the Trim Parts low qualifier award and Sunday's championship, beating Chris Russo in the finals. Chris (below) was trying for a Nitro Coupe two-peat after a win in Maple Grove.
In Saturday qualifying, John led the pack with a 6.274 at 227.00 mph. In Sunday's finals, he turned in a 6.384 at 221.34 to best Chris Russo, who had a 6.464 at 216.93 miles per
hour.Adding some zest and a lot of speed to the Super Chevy Show at Epping were the National Speed Association Snowmobiles, who turned in wild times on dry land. Winner Jeremy Hannen of Durand, Michigan ran his 2005 Fire Cat to a 8.455 at 149.76 mph in the finals. The reaction time champ in finals round was Bracket Two winner Bill Chapman of Woburn, MA who snagged an .005 light. (Complete bracket race finals information follows).
After a week off, the Super Chevy Show heads to the South Side of Chicago and Route 66 Raceway August 11-13.
