Kenny Bernstein took advantage of the fact that Larry Dixon was taken out of the competition in the first round by Mitch King. Bernstein got his first win this season and left Houston trailing points leader Dixon by only 65.

Tony Schumacher's Army-backed Top Fueler was not able to beat King Kenny in the final round, turning a 4.900/304.94 to Bernstein's 4.695/319.37.

Dean Skuza's Dodge Stratus R/T went out in the first round, falling victim to Tommy Johnson Jr's Camaro, but we just love those flamin' headlights.

The fans saw some pretty hot competition. Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson set the Houston Raceway Park track record with a 6.824-second pass during Friday's second qualifying session. Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Shawn Gann set the track speed record at 192.58 mph during Friday's first session.
