Larry Dixon had lost lane choice by .001 in his semi-final race with Tony Schumacher. In the final round Dixon would be racing Cory Mac, who defeated a "tire challenged" Kenny Bernstein. (photo by Tim Marshall)

Larry would now get the right lane and crew chief Dick LaHaie was out checking that lane after each Sportsman car left the line, he consulted with teammates "Ace" McCulloch and Larry Meyer (above photo) as both Snake Racing cars had the same lane. But first, it was time for the Funny Car final pitting Gary Densham and Tommy Johnson Jr. in the battle of the braintrusts in nitro racing -- Coil, Fedderly, Medlin, & Prock versus the Prudhomme wizards. Densham left on TJ as both cars smoked the tires, Densham dropped the blower belt, and TJ recovered but couldn't catch the Mustang in the lights. Densham picked-up his third career win, and as he put it, "I've only got 97 more to go, to beat John Force!" (photo by Zak Hawthorne)

After Don Prudhomme picked up his dropped toothpick from Johnson's loss, he moved out of the way for the Top Fuel final. The number one and two qualified cars staged and they left together, but on the top end Dixon and LaHaie saved the best for last in running low ET of eliminations 4.639 at 319.29 to McClenathan's 4.738 at 313.88. Elvis is back and has won Las Vegas, making it three wins for Dixon and four final rounds this season.

A much more consistent Ron Krisher took on Gatornationals winner Darrell Alderman in the Pro Stock final. In a tight race Krisher picked up his fourth career win running a 7.016 to the Dodge's 7.026. (photo by Tim Marshall)

The NHRA show returns to Vegas in October in what should be a tight points race this season, but now we know that Elvis is alive, at least in Las Vegas!
