Goodbye Columbus

Making it a cool 2 (as in second win) for 2000, Tony Schumacher's Exide Batteries dragster ran off with the Top Fuel title at the NHRA Pontiac Excitement Nationals.
Dean Skuza's Matco Tools Funny Car had just a so-so weekend. He qualified 13th and went two rounds before losing to Tony Pedgregon in round two.
Side by side Funny Car qualifying was highlighted by Bruce Sarver's E-Moola.com Pontiac (far lane) and Todd Paton in the Nitrofish Camaro. Both cars made the Columbus show; Sarver clocked a 5.048 for the 10th spot and Paton banging out a 5.051 for the 11th slot.
Talk about two of your all-time Top Fuel greats! Hall of Famers Connie Kalitta (Left) and 72-year-old Chris Karamesines, who qualified at Columbus, shoot the breeze in the pits.
