In Pro Stock the Infineon Drag Strip records continued to drop, led by Greg Anderson in his Round two win over Alan Johnson, setting the mark at 6.780/203.52. Larry Morgan hadn't won a round since the Winternationals, but beat fellow MOPAR driver Greg Stanfield, thanks to help from David Nickens and a secret phone conversation with veteran Bob Glidden who helped with chassis problems spotted by Glidden on the ESPN2 TV coverage.

THE FINALS

In one of the closest races of the day John Force met Ron Capps. They left together with identical .490 reaction times, but the Austin Coil horsepower won this one by an eyelash running a 4.953/303.09 to Capps' 4.956/300.46. John Force picked up Wally #102.

Top Fuel found Doug Kalitta against Doug Herbert, with Kalitta leaving first and dropping cylinders as Herbert pulled away at 700 feet for the win, running 4.727/308.85 to Kalitta's 4.766/305.36. Johnny West has found the missing consistency in Herbert's tune-up to pick up his first win as a nitro crew chief.
