Many pieces of drag racing history had been donated: John
Force crew uniforms, DeSoto valve covers, old fire suits, magazines,
posters, painted toasters, and race programs. The auction raised over
$25,000 and provided a fantastic cap to an historic day. The end of
day parties continued in the pits, led by the Neptunas all-girl-power-surf
band playing late into the night.
I'd missed the last couple of years at California Hot
Rod Reunion, but found the 10th annual one to be awesome in so many
ways, not just the racing. A special thanks goes to Steve Gibbs from
the NHRA Motorsports Museum for making this event work... I won't miss
the next.
