BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR. . .

Proving that anticipation of an event can be better than the event itself, Scotty Cannon finally got his Oakley-sponsored Firebird to perform up to expectations and made it into the Funny Car final against champion John Force. Then Cannon red-lighted away any chance to get the win, which he would have gotten because Force had clutch problems. Now Cannon's team has found the performance, and the butterflies are (hopefully) gone, the next time these two pair up should be a real barn-burner. As Force himself said, "I've been saying for awhile now that Scotty's way overdue for a win."

The win moved Force into the points lead over teammate Gary Densham.

ANGELLE GETS 25TH CAREER WIN

Angelle Savoie also was the beneficiary of a red-light, getting the Pro Stock Motorcycle win when Shawn Gann moved too soon. Savoie is on track for her third straight title.
