One driver to keep on that list of prospective
drivers for John Force Racing is Cory Lee. Reportedly,
Cory will lunch with the 12-time Champ this
week. For the Pomona Finals, Cory will take
over the controls of the Artisan Entertainment
T2-sponsored Pontiac.
Arnie "Boston Strangler"
Karp hung up his helmet abruptly following damaging
the T2 car in qualifying. As Karp put it, "I've
worked hard to be a good driver, but it's clear
that the car is ahead of me and on that run
I put my teammate and my best friend in all
of drag racing in peril. I can't do that again,
and I won't. I'm stepping down." (Darr Hawthorne

No driver has been secured for the T2 ride
next season, but it looks as though Karp will
remain within the Worsham & Fink organization.
As Chuck Worsham put it, "The Artisan deal is
90 percent, but there are a lot of drivers out
there with their rÈsumÈ's and checkbooks. Every
car needs a secondary income if they want to
run hard." Worsham will field three cars next
season.
TOP FUEL
The Vegas finals pitted Schumacher and Bernstein.
With the Army car's consistency, Alan Johnson
ended up leaving the starting line disappointed
as the car smoked the tires in his race against
KB's 4.545. In spite of the roller coaster year
for the Bud team, Kenny seems now to be comfortable
with his retirement plans, unlike last year
at this time. He looks to be at peace with his
decision to hang up his driving suit.
PRO STOCK
Greg Anderson led once again from the No. 1
position defeating Gene Wilson, Ron Krisher,
Jeg Coughlin, and finally Kurt Johnson with
his now patented top end charge. Anderson has
the kind of power in his Chevy that clearly
runs down the competition. With two cars in
the mix for 2004 it's hard to believe he won't
have the field covered at next February's Winternationals.
Greg grabbed his 11th Wally of the year; if
he wins the Pomona Finals he'll take the record
for most wins in a season. He's come a long
way since winning his first event win at Bristol
in 2001.
Now it's off to the Pomona Fairplex for the
Automobile Club of Southern California Finals
Nov. 6-9 and then some much-needed rest for
the teams and drivers.
