SOUTHERN TRACK MEMORIES
Thanks for all the memories. As a kid from Sulligent, Al (pop.2000) I went to
all to those tracks. For my birthday one year I asked my Dad to take me to Wiston Co. Dragway. I will never forget that night. Hugh Scott, Earnest Jones, and other outlaws raced for bragging rights, not much money. The best heads up racing you could ask for. I raced at Fulton, Ms with Hugh Scott & Jimmy Rector. Jimmy out ran my '65 Mustang with a '55 Chevy pickup on the street in Sulligent. Things like that Visa can't buy.(priceless.) The only regret I have is not taking pictures. I got to see Shannon Jenkins one night in Baileyton before he was a star Pro Mod Driver.
Now I still get a thrill from Outlaw Pro Mods like Scruggs, Big Money, Hugh, R E Smith, Stroud, etc. At age 42 my dream is to have a Pro Mod and go to those tracks for the fun, not the money. I thank GOD I was born in the south. I still brag about those days.
Thanks again.

BUY-BACKS? BAH!
It is no different in Div.1 NHRA down here
at Cecil County Dragway. The buy backs are so
bad you are lucky to get 2 time runs in on a
Sunday bracket race and if you do first round

doesn't
start till late like around dinner time.
Saturday nite street car shoot out is about the only way that you can get a good race in, in a reasonable amount of time.

SATURDAY NIGHT LOOKS GOOD
Jok, you should come to Norwalk. They run first
round at 1:00 am at 40 degrees so they can have
the weird olympics and parade. I had so much
fun last year I forgot to go this year, so did
our track champion. Anyhow, I sure do wish I
could disagree with you, there is nothing funner
than arguing with an adjuster, but I think you
and I have gone the same full circle. Saturday
night racing seems to make more sense every
day.
