HEMI MORE
I had to write about the #*?!@$$ that thinks
the hemi had a weight penalty! All Pro Stock
cars in NHRA run under the 2350# rule regardless
of make or engine as long as it is based on
a production engine. The canted valve engine
lends itself to high swirl high rpm; that
is why it is the dominant engine in Pro Stock.
These hemi heads that everybody is talking
about is nothing more than a canted valve
head with the combustion chamber

turned
sideways! This includes the Ford, Mopar, and,
yes, the new Chevy. There is no sphere to
them at all. If you think that as winning
of a racer as Bob Glidden was that he would
have started work on a big block Ford canted
valve head for no reason you're crazy. The
reason this new so-called hemi head design
lends itself to the mountain motors is intake
port design and size because of port layout
and pushrod clearance. With this design they
can get the ports big enough.
There is no hemi dominating in NHRA; as a
matter of fact every record held in NHRA is
held by a canted valve motor. If the big block
Chevy would have been out when Keith Black
took an interest in the hemi and he would
have took an interest in it instead that would
also be the Top Fuel engine of choice.
True Chevy Guy.

FEELING PROCKISH
I love that Prockish Corvette!! I can't believe
they ran a 6.16! And coming all the way from
Alaska, that has to suprise a few people at
the track. You guys got some great photos
of the car, but if you have more you should
put them on the site and maybe some more information
about the car. Anyways, keep up the great
work and coverage!

GLAD TO SEE 10-WIDE COVERAGE
Great job. Credit definitely goes to these
folks for their integrity and dedication.
We have known Rob Barnes of NSCA for 4 years
now as well as Patrick and Tony for a short
while....just plain good folks. We are a small
publication that has tried to help them out
over the past few years and are now becoming
the "NSCA Street Shootout Magazine". We will
feature mostly NSCA editorial/racer features
but also items from OSCA (Outlaw Street Car
Association), PSCA (Pacific Street Car Association),
OSCA (Ontario Street Car Association) and
QSCA (Quebec Street Car Association) as well
as any smaller one off races we can squeeze
in.
We also host a Canadian Race, the CFSC Shootout
(Canadian Fastest Street Car Shootout). We
took over the NSCA date after they merged
for what was to be a bumpy ride (to say the
least) with NMCA. I truly believe Tony, Patrick,
Rob and the rest of the crew are best off
as the NSCA to preserve their integrity and
way of doing things "the right way".
