THE
'WRITE' STUFF
To Jeff and all there at DRO, I just want
to compliment you all on the way you get the
latest stories and report them, well done!
(That doesn't mean I always agree!) LOL

LOVE THOSE QUOTES
Ian, great quotes from Chicago! As much as
Dave Connolly is a great driver I think he's
wrong when he said no one was pressuring G.A.
early in the year. Maybe they weren't pressuring
on ET but as G.A. has pointed out before, every
competitor he faced this year has tried to
cut down the tree and their reaction times
support his view. Looking at the big picture
GA has won quite a few rounds on reaction time
even when his ET was just "average." Jason
Line has unfortunately done the opposite and
given away a few wins by being late. This should
demonstrate that driving a P/S car is not as
easy as many people believe. Jason will get
better and the '05 season should be a Barn
Burner in P/S.

GATEWAY NOSTALGIA #1
Two points for you. I love the old floppers.
Growing up within walking distance of Fremont
Drag Strip in California, we saw a lot of great
hot rods over the years. So when they starting
really growing in numbers this past year I
was really excited to have the opportunity
to see them again. But, we have all been to "bad
shows" at the track and I would rather
take my car and drive at a local bracket race
then sit around and watch half track runs at
a "big show." I
hope this is the shake up that the promoters
need to help turn this into a good show.
Thanks for staying true to your readers. Maybe
they will remember "we" are the reason
for the show.
Thanks,
Kurt F. Roessler
GATEWAY NOSTALGIA #2
Now that I've had the opportunity to read
the article that you wrote regarding the Funny
Car race at Gateway and the reader/competitor
responses I can see that each of the
parties have legitimate positions. This has
to do with two separate entities, one, trying
to produce an entertaining event and the other
paying to see an entertaining event. The goal
for both is to produce a first class event
that insures this type of racing has a future
and an affordable alternative to NHRA National
event racing.
No one likes to hear criticism, particularly
when they've invested so much into a project,
but when presented in a constructive manner
these comments/suggestions help form the changes
that benefit everyone. When Wally Parks first
began organized drag racing back in the early
fifties I'm sure a lot of the events didn't
go as well as he'd have liked and he probably
endured a lot of criticism.
Like most of you, I hope Nostalgia Funny Car
racing has a great future, in fact it may be
one of the elements that helps drag racing
survive, God knows NHRA is sure off track and
floundering. The difference over there, (NHRA),
is that they refuse to listen to anyone but
college educated, zero experienced MBA bean
counters. You guys involved in the Nostalgia
events are smarter than that.
