The crybaby got what he deserved. He garnered his reputation when he was a photographer.

PS: Last time I checked, Force is still the best thing that ever happened to drag racing.

MOVING THE SHOW ALONG

Great article, I totally agree with you. Those guys have police escorts and drive like nuts! Is it really worth compromising spectator safety, competitor safety and their own safety all in the name of getting back on the track on time for a tv show that is TAPED AND EDITED anyway? (and usually PRE-EMPTED by Little League!) What's the hurry?

I also feel that there is preferential treatment in the ranks, and if you are not part of Team Castrol, NHRA really has no use for you.

Just my 2 cents worth.

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING FOR SPORTSMAN RACERS?

Jok, I race S/C and brackets and am a "little guy" racer since the 1960's and couldn't agree more with your latest column. Here in the northeast, NHRA has been the dominant organization and many of our Lucas Series races are overflowing with entries at $145 + crew passes. There is no shortage of people spending incredible amounts of money on motorhomes and all the rest of the equipment to race for payouts that the track owners

should be embarrassed to hand out. This past Oct. we had our last Lucas race at Atco, N.J. and there were cars parked all the way up the return road as well as in places I didn't know could be used for pit space. I lost in the Semi's of an over 100 car field and got paid $225.

I know business is supply and demand...and the demand is that people will show up and pay to race no matter what the payouts. For all that NHRA makes us do in order to race and with the competition being what it is today and the effort required to be competitive, it is a shame how we the Sportsman who created drag racing, are being abused. Without Sportsman racers across the country there would be no place for the Pro's or NHRA or IHRA and many others in the industry. Sportsman racers need to organize; call it a UNION if you like but until that happens we are all at the mercy of the suits and bean counters and they know it!
