Darr,
dead on with a "0"!! I go to national events
to watch the Stocks and Super Stocks, the
rest are invisible. As for the pro's? They
are not only invisible, I make a point of
not watching them. I was talking to a FWD
Stocker in 1997 at the Gators when I heard
that Johnston went 200mph. Maybe I'm an oddball?
Judging by your mail...I think not!
I LOVE your crate motor Mustang Stocker feature!!
Keep up the good work!!

Jok,
you hit the nail right on the head. The only
thing you might have not hit was ESPN's terrible
scheduling of events. I realize that some
live events will run over, but last season
almost every event was delayed or cut short
on time due to programming conflicts with
the national tiddlywink tournament or something.
Of course, when the coverage was finally aired
we still got the lame interviews and way too
many commercials. At least with my dvr I can
take care of that. Keep the pressure on and
maybe someone will wake up.

Darr,
you are 100% correct on your view of TV and
Drag Racing. Not only do they have minimal
knowledge but they also spend too much time
with the wrong people. They will interview
drivers and crew chiefs of cars poorly qualified
and ignore the top ones when it is a Kalitta
car or Baca or some of the others who do not
have beer or oil sponsors. They also spend
too much time on commercials and not enough
time on action. We do not need to see Bernstein,
Dixon or Force 4 or 5 times per pass and the
others about a 1/2 pass. Let's give every
one equal time. Maybe that is why everyone
watches NASCAR on TV and few watch poor NHRA
coverage.
Maybe you will get enough of these E-mails
and can forward them to NHRA. Maybe they will
listen, but I doubt it. They are more interested
in the Dollar and the free beer and not the
racers or the fans.
Thanks.

I agree with you, Jok. If drag racing fanatics
like us don't like the shows, I can't imagine
the casual viewer keeping interested. The
TV shows are missing the appeal of drag racing.
It's the CARS: the variety of, the quality,
the uniqueness, etc. I like Brett Kepner's
idea of a few years ago, remove the wheelie
bars!

Hooray for Hawthorne!! Your commentary "Hit
the nail on the head"! I could not have said
it as good, or any better. Yes, I yearn for
the days of Steve, Dave, and Bob also. I too,
have many Diamond P tapes. My favorites were
the "Decade of the 70's", and, "Decade of
the 80's". I was anxiously awaiting "Decade
of the 90's" when, all of a sudden, there
was no more! I do have individual years of
the 90's; I believe these stopped about '97
or '98.
Anyway, I hope someone reads your commentary,
and any replies, like mine. It would be nice
to get back to some "Grass Roots" of drag
race coverage, as in the past.
Thanks.

Jok,
Way to go...You probably have no idea how
many of us out here feel the same way.
