BRACKET REBUTTAL
Just wondering . . . If you had thought about
how many bracket racers USED to read (Burk's)
column? How many will read it now? Thank you
very little, for appreciating the racing we
can afford to do. You are welcome.

Yes, I do have the cajonnees (sic) to leave
my name.
A GOOD EXPLANATION
The real shame, is that the PA at National
events are very inadequate and the announcers
don't really take time to explain what's going
on to the fans. I have announced at our local
track several different times and always took
time to explain the way the timing system

works.
You know as well as I do, that some racers
don't even know how it works. I raced IDBA
for years as well as bracket raced (Track
Champion), I have also worked IHRA points
meets and noticed that when the "rod" classes
ran that if you actually explained WHY the
cars "stuttered" and the tuning process, weather
stations, dial-in computers, etc., the fans
would buy into it and actually wonder if the
drivers and tuners could "hit the number"!
Just wondering why more announcers don't
take the time; that's what they get paid for!
Really enjoy Drag Racing Online. I can really
get the skinny without having to read the
PR hype. Thanks for a great "magazine."

THANKS A MILLION
Jeff, I'm sure someone already emailed this
but just in case... To my knowledge, the largest
winner's purse at the Million was $252,000.
And I'm pretty sure Stephen Hughes was the
winner that year. Of course, the last ten
or so racers were smart enough to do a split.
I think I remember Stephen telling me he took
home $155,000... but don't hold me to that
number. Not bad for a bunch of bracket racers.
I know John Force just about crapped himself
when he heard that the winner's purse was
over $200,000 a couple years ago.

IT'S ACES WITH US
Saw the first part of Ace's interview on
your website...very nice. I can't recall in
the 13 years I worked in the sport such an
honest, inside look at the world of Prudhomme.
Hope all is well, and keep up the good work.
