IT'S ALL ABOUT THE NITRO
Jeff, regarding your wish list, I'm with you on all of them.
But one of my favorites is this one:
"I wish that there was some way for the hitters in
Top Fuel and Funny Car to still have match races. Bazemore
vs. Force, Coil vs. Beard, best two out of three on a warm
summer Saturday night at E-town, Indy, or Rockingham! Where
do I buy a ticket?"
Here, here!!! And one more thing. Since this would be a
non-sanctioned event, TIP THE CAN BABY! I WANT TO HEAR AND
SMELL 100 PERCENT AGAIN!

WHAT'RE YOU TALKING ABOUT, TOCHER?
What is up with you? Are you in love with Whit? Your interpretation
of his passion can also be perceived as pompous arrogance.
He's a good driver, but there are plenty of those out there
with just as much passion. No less than 16 most every weekend
that they race from what I observe. And they are all within
less that a second difference in their ET. What you didn't
mention was that he had been warned "repeatedly"
about this. That's a little bit different that a ONE time
occurrence. Here is the actual verbiage from NHRA on line:
"Following his first round loss, Bazemore was observed
exiting the racetrack at a dangerously high rate of speed
and ignored the instructions of NHRA officials to reduce
his speed. He further ignored directions as to where to
safely stop and park his vehicle. His actions endangered
the safety of the other race team crewmembers, ESPN personnel,
and NHRA officials in the area. Bazemore had previously
been warned about this practice on numerous occasions."
And why is it that you feel the need to pounce on John
Force? You seem to be the one with an attitude about Force,
and I'm not saying I like or dislike Force anymore than
I do Whit. (Maybe you're being supplemented by Whit, because
the 2 page essay you wrote was certainly pro-Whit). Your
comment about Force getting "beneficial calls"
is just your biased and narrow minded opinion.
I also have been to many races and seen incidents that
were not appropriate by many teams other than Force, so
your biased opinion seems to be fit your pattern. Also you
speak about passion in the sport; does anyone show anymore
emotion than John Force? Again, like Force or not, he is
one of THE biggest draws to the sport. Maybe you need to
read some of the NHRA polls.
In closing, you contradict yourself that drivers need to
be able to voice their opinions, but then you start your
Force bashing again. If you plan to pursue a journalist
career when you mature, you need to pull your head out of
a certain part of your anatomy.

Hi John,
Like you, I am neither pro or con for Bazemore, Force, or
any other driver out there, but your reaction is actually
what I was writing about. At least Bazemore elicits a response
from people.
I am well aware of NHRA's claim they warned Bazemore
several times about speeding, and that may well be. But
it doesn't change my opinion that he -- or ANY driver --
shouldn't be intimidated with an "unsportsmanlike conduct"
threat for what appears to me to be a safety issue.
And for the record, I have written many positive stories
about Force and his accomplishments. I agree that he's drag
racing's greatest ambassador, but like other great sports
heroes (Jordan, Gretzky, etc.) I believe he gets cut a little
more slack than most of his competitors. If that's pouncing
on him, I guess I'm guilty.
Regardless, I appreciate you reading DRO, but thanks
especially for taking the time to reply. It shows you're
just like me and at least have an opinion. -- Ian Tocher
NOT ANOTHER TOCHER FAN
You are just as much of a jerk as Bazemore is. He is disliked
by 90 percent of the people that I talk to but obviously
you have your own biased take on that. Continue with your
non-partisan views, jerk.
