A SEIN-FELD OF THE TIMES?
Hi Burk: Just finished reading yet another "just wondering",
and I was just wondering "If" your press passes
will be in the Credentials trailer in Florida at the Gators?
The NHRA soup Nazis might say "No Soup For You"
-- Just kidding -- or am I.
Just wondering, in sunny Florida.

READY FOR BRUTON?
Could the spec engines in fuel be a precursor to the take
over by B. Smith and take the heat of off him? The spec
engine deal smacks of NASCAR don't you think? What's next
10.5 tire Pro Stocks?

WELCOMES BRUTON
This seems to be the only place to find any real news concerning
my favorite sport. I would welcome the transfer of ownership
to Smith and company. It should give drag racing the opportunity
to separate the pro racing and the sportsman racing and
establish a pro show that could be run in a three-hour period
instead of the day long slog that is the current style.
The sportsman events could return to the status that they
used to enjoy and could be set up like the Busch series
etc. in NASCAR.
Thanks for the great coverage.

DISENCHANTED RACING FAN
I could care less about publication of this letter, I just
want to say that all the new rules restricting Top Fuel
make me sick. NHRA is acting just like NASCAR. I realize
that this is a drag racing publication but what I am saying
applies to two major racing organizations. I am so sick
of this level playing field attitude that I could puke.
I think it is all about money.
I have been a participant and fan of racing since I was
old enough to know what a car was, about 45 years ago. Racing
has never been about a level playing field. It has been
about who could build the best car, engine, and be the best
driver. How can new levels of performance be reached when
the rules won't allow it? What happened to innovation and
development? Why is the current trend towards orchestrated
racing so popular? Looks like professional wrestling to
me. The only answer I can come up with is money.
I feel that NASCAR and NHRA are more concerned about money
than racing. All they want to do is put on a show for the
uneducated masses. The masses that know nothing of real
racing. The racers and real fans of racing have brought
the sports along for 50 years and now they are being cast
aside for purely money-making show business.
No real racer or real fan likes what is happening to their
sport. Like me, more than a few are fed up and no longer
care what happens to either organization. I hope they both,
NHRA and NASCAR, slide into oblivion.
