IS NATIONAL TRAIL THAT BAD?!
I (attended) the 41st Annual Pontiac NHRA Performance Nationals
at National Trail Raceway just east of Columbus, OH. I was
there 3 of the 4 days. This was my third of 8 stops I will
be attending on the NHRA POWERade tour. Well, after Friday
night qualifying I was more than upset with EVERYTHING! Not
one Top Fueler got down the track. It was by far the most
disappointing qualifying session I had ever attended. I have
been attending the Columbus since 1972. I was 4 years young
that year. I have never missed a year of the Columbus race.
Well, in my opinion the NHRA had a lot to prove on Saturday.
They did, after Friday night was over the rest of the weekend
was one of the most memorable NHRA national events in drag
racing history. Not only was there a tremendous improvement,
the competition on Sunday was FLAWLESS! NHRA saved the best
run for last. NO ONE I mean No One ever expected Tony Schumacher
to run 336.15 MPH! That has to be the shot heard around the
drag racing world. If you didn't attend the Columbus race
because you thought it would be an uneventful weekend. Sorry
about your luck.
So, is National Trails a really bad track? All I can
say is 336.15!!! Baby!!!

PARENTAL OVERSIGHT
I just read the Agent's column on Scelzi and Force's lack
of ability to speak without using profanity. My reply to
the column is simply this. The NHRA is no longer the grease
monkey,
truck driving, drinking and cussing sport is once
was, it has been domesticated and refined. It's men like
Gary and John that enjoy making the enormous dollars they
do driving the cars they love. As with anything, a price
has to paid; if the NHRA and frankly your website want to
keep the dollars, you will have to do exactly what the bill
payers tell you to do.
Besides, do you want your children to enjoy the world's
greatest sport as I do? So as a parent I'm left with a choice,
watch it and hear them knuckleheads who can't do what we
are trying to teach our children to do, or because of a few,
let them miss out and pay the price and hope they don't get
the wrong message.
