Here
is the next batch of letters concerning the Steve Johnson
story in the order in which they were received. Some arrived
before NHRA reversed its decision and some after the announcement
was made and Burk's Blast addressed the subject.
Thanks DRO, for your eloquent and accurate assessment of the
Steve Johnson debacle. As a fan and friend of Steve, my jaw
(and heart) dropped to the floor when Mr. Light gave his half-hearted
and lackluster explanation for NHRA's upholding of the PSB
final round results. I could easily sit here and say if I
was in the other lane, I'd hand the Wally and the bucks over
to Steve after viewing the tape, but that's not going to happen,
nor would it put Steve back in time on the podium. It's especially
sad since his first win came the same day we lost Darrell
Russell, thus negating coverage of his top end interview.
Keep up the good work.

Every photographer knows. . .the camera NEVER lies! Give the
win to Steve Johnson. It's his!

Anybody with a set of eyes and a TV can see that Steve Johnson
won The Nationals! How could anyone, especially G2 and Smith
feel good about their "win?" They are better men
than that.
After they look at the tape, they will feel embarrassed, disappointed,
sad and mad...I do not blame them. They should be mad at the
NHRA as well.
If they don't fix this, what is there to keep people from
getting their laser pointers out and going to the finish line?
Restore sanity!
Also, if the NHRA is so confident in their clocks, why don't
they give Tony the MPH record? The fact that they make back
up runs says their equipment can fail. Guess what? It did
and Steve should be seeing a lawyer!

Looks like an outpouring of outrage at the injustice Steve
Johnson suffered at the hands of NHRA in P/S motorcycle at
Indy was too much for the "suits" to handle. They
declared Steve the winner on Tuesday, as they should have
done on MONDAY so Steve could have enjoyed the prestige and
publicity he was rightly due.
Thank God the Net gives people a "quick response"
device to try and correct an injustice.

Regardless of the outcome, Steve Johnson was a gentleman and a true Sportsman
in the face of all that had happened and even in front of
the cameras. It has been seen over and over when someone loses
and then they get bent all out of shape, but not Steve; he
keep his cool. I was so happy for him when he won last year
even when the track seen a death of a fellow racer. Steve
could have made a big stink about it, but then again he didn't.
So, thank you for giving Mr. Steve Johnson the kudos he deserves.
Steve Johnson, you're 2005 U.S. National Pro-Stock Bike Winner.
