THE LOADED QUESTION-er

Thematically, November is a tough month to come up with any drag racing related. For the past quarter century and then some, not much if anything happens during the Thankless-giving month. But I've been scratching the top of my balding pate and have come up with this diseased expectorant. Good luck, chums.

1. The 1983 IHRA Northern Nationals Street Rod Champion was...oh, never mind. Forget that one.

1. The 1992 season was the last year IHRA ran Funny Car with any consistency, hosting the category five times in 15 events. The last winner of an event title, in this case the North American Nationals at Epping, NH was

A. Tom Hoover
B. Del Worsham
C. Chuck Etchells
D. Bob Gilbertson

2. The last year Bob Glidden was an NHRA Pro Stock World Champion was.

A. 1988
B. 1989
C. 1990
D. 1991

3. The youngest driver to win an NHRA Funny Car national event title was

A. Billy Meyer
B. Tommy Johnson Jr.
C. Mike Dunn
D. Del Worsham

4. In their media guides, NHRA listed (and I think still do, haven't got it in front of me) Don Johnson as running a 6.97, the first six-second in their annals. Small error there. Johnson was the owner of the car that did, but not the driver. The shoe was

A. Floyd J. Lippincott Jr.
B. Dave Beebe
C. Bobby Tapia
D. Tom McEwen

5. Don Garlits won Indy three years in a row from 1984 through 1986. In the last two years of that skein, he beat Darrell Gwynn, but in 1984, he got past what finalist?

A. Connie Kalitta
B. Shirley Muldowney
C. Gene Snow
D. Frank Bradley
