This photo shows the new aluminum cammer and the one that Larry had
cast up some 20 years ago. The new one on the left features stringers
in the lifter galley for additional strength. One of the improvements
that Larry made was to change the 1/2-inch head studs to 9/16-inch studs.
Here
is a look at the bottom end of both the old and new aluminum blocks.
In order to strengthen the block even more, Larry moved the head stud
threads three inches further down in the block closer to the main webs.
As you can also see, he has made the main webs much thicker than they
were.
Larry has a good supply of cammer heads if he should need them.
Gould has also fabricated this one-piece front housing for the cam
gear drive
On the left is the iron 427 cammer that Bach and Gould ran to shake
down the car. In the center is the new aluminum block and right is Larrys
first aluminum castings
