I have a friend that won his first major event; this was great because
we all know that what wins today sells tomorrow and I was anxious
to pay him his contingency money. I received the issue of that journal
we all subscribe to, there was a picture of his car in one of my competitors
ads congratulating him on his win using their product. At first I
thought it was not right; I know that he is using my product. As I
moved on and found his feature article I saw a lot of clear pictures
of his car in several rounds and the winners circle. To my surprise
I did not find my decals on his car nor mention my name; I discovered
the competitor's decal on his car. To add insult to injury, he had
the gall to have friends ask if was going to pry him. So I decided
in the interest of maintaining our friendship, I would talk with him
about the matter. We discussed several points which helped forge my
contingency program, and in the interest of maintaining our friendship,
I paid him the contingency award.

LET THE MONEY TRICKLE DOWN A LITTLE FURTHER
Nice job, it would be nice if we could get some help. While your
article was most important..."show me the money"...,I feel that the
program is padded too much on the top also. What I mean is that you
must W or RU to get any money. In most cases that is covered by the
same people. I think the money should be broken down to quarter-finals,
even if it means four QF cars get ten bucks per sticker. Then a guy
could drive thirteen hours with eight or nine hundred dollars in his
pocket......well, owed to him, ha ha! How about this per sticker (winner
200) (runner-up 100) (semi 30) (quarter 10)...anyway, you get the
idea. This would be the same amount as is paid in NHRA nationals,
the norm being 300 and 100 per. and scale this down for divisionals.
