BROKEN ROD EQUALS BROKEN DREAMS

Billy Harper, who has long championed the Mopar cause in Pro Modified, ran a 6.283 to qualify for the Pro Mod field. On Monday he got by Ed Hoover's 'Vette to advance to the semis but broke a rod and was unable to make the call, giving Californian Danny Rowe a bye run into the finals against Ronnie Hood.

WITH 6.231 LAP

While much of the hoopla in the Pro Mod ranks was over Fred Hahn's pair of record bettering runs, former IHRA Pro Mod World Champ Shannon Jenkins was making some noise of his own. In the second qualifying round Jenkins recorded a 6.231 which is the quickest ever quarter-mile time for a nitrous oxide equipped car. The previous best time was a 6.251!
