NHRA SILLY SEASON

MORE CHANGES COMING IN CANNON CAMP!

Rumors have been rampant at the Motorplex race concerning the Scotty Cannon/Oakley Fuel Coupe camp speculating that the crew have been given their walking papers at the race. DRO talked to a representative of the team and was told that no one had been fired that the team would finish out the season. DRO was also told that contrary to the rumors Scotty Cannon would be back for the 2002 season in a Funny Car but not with the same program. One possible scenario being floated is Cannon getting into the Alan Johnson Funny Car for next season. It's just a rumor but DRO likes the idea ...Alan Johnson and Scotty Cannon.

Actually the Pro Stock Truck Owners Association served papers on NHRA on Wednesday while simultaneously filing court documents in Phoenix. No information concerning the wording of the suit or what the Association was suing NHRA for. Sources have told DRO that the Eaton Pro Stock Truck team was the driving force behind the suit. In a related matter Pro Stock truck team owner and driver Jerry Hass resigned from the PSTA board prior to the suit being filed. NHRA's immediate reaction was to threaten the possibility of canceling the remaining Pro Stock Truck races for the season. There is only one race remaining on the schedule and that is the final event of the Winston Drag Racing Series
