In 1976 Glidden campaigned his ill-fated Monza
and finished sixth in Winston championship points. The following
year he returned to his Ford roots with this Pro Stock Pinto and
finished second in points. This shot was taken at a WCS meet (remember
those?) at Byron Dragway. (Photo by B.W. Jacobsen) |

Here's another shot of Glidden in a Pinto,
this time in partnership with some guy named Allen. This DRO file
shot was taken at Sanair Dragway in Canada. We're not sure of the
year. |
BEST RUN
A guy wins 85 national events and you want a best run. Well, I'll go
with his 1985 7.94 at 6,100-foot altitude Bandimere Speedway in Colorado.
It was the track's first seven, and if there are any pro racers who
are heavily oppressed by high altitude, it's Pro Stock. Just one of
many Glidden super runs.

This was taken at Glidden's shop in Whiteland,
Indiana. Note the b-ball hoop in the background. Legend has it that
Bob and son Bill had some fierce one-on-one scrimmages until Bill
starting beating dad regularly. |
