We all love the Factory Experimental class
here at DRO. As far as were concerned they we're
the real forerunners of Funny Cars. Doug Nash's
BFX Comet hauled. He later went on to a nitro
injected small block Ford-powered Bronco.
Bruce Larson won a World Championship in a
nitro flopper but before he went funny car racing
he drove in the late lamented AA/SP class with
the 427 powered AC Cobra.
Couldn't pass the opportunity to showcase a
T-Bolt. This one belonged to Al Joniec and Bud
Rubino. Check out those nine-inch slicks that
are starting to smoke.
Nicholson's Comet. Nuff said. If you look
closely you can see a '59 Ford squaring off
against a 62 1/2 Galaxie. What you can't see
is a guard rail anywhere!
Nicholson again, this time in one of his Pro
Stock Mavericks doing a little testing.
And then we get to the late sixties with East
Detroit's Dave Lyall and his Mustang.
