Ton "the Godfather" Pels ran a string of 6.6's to take the event
win and the 2004 Super Twin championship into the bargain.
|
Making it a double Dutch championship
celebration was Roel Koedam (centre, flanked
by Norwegian Super Twin riders Svein Gottenburg,
left, and Ronnie Aasen) who had already
wrapped up the Top Fuel Bike crown before
the event, and ran a best of 6.264/206
for low ET of the event on a very soft
tune up. With a PB of 6.04, Koedam and
crew chief Marius van der Zijden have their
eyes on a five. When the track conditions
are ready they will be too. |
The Euro Finals also saw the return to mid
6-second form of Ian King onboard his gorgeous
Yamaha/Puma entry. The 2001 series champion
has had two seasons of woe, but a refreshed
blower could see a renewed title challenge
in 2005.
But, despite the multinational flavour
of Top Fuel Bike, veteran Steve Woollatt
kept the event title in the UK with a string
of bracket-like 6.6 second passes. |
