Urs Erbacher won the Top Methanol championship
points, although it was a squeaker with close
rival Ulf Leanders (and fellow 5.6 second runner—these
boys are world class!) winning the event but
missing out on low ET by four hundredths of
a second.
Throughout 2004 the
American Car Imports team have used the experience
gained racing in North America during the winter
(and winning a Division 7 title at Tucson)
to dominate in Top Methanol Dragster. The Euro
Finals was really a test session for Dave Wilson
and the team, resetting the European ET mark
at 5.436. Wilson will be testing the water
of Top Fuel Dragster later in the year and
the team might step up in 2005 if funding allows.
Jimmy Alund is the man in European Pro Stock
for 2004, the first into the 6.8's and first
over 200 mph earlier in the year. Alund also
managed to sweep the board at the Finals and
ran the only six of the weekend.
Similarly dominant in 2004, Roger Pettersson
stormed to a mid-season lead in Pro Stock Bike
and the Veidec-backed rider simply didn't let
the opposition get a look in after slipping
up at the first event on the tour.
